Resuming Onsite Corporate Worship at VMUMC

Beloved VMUMC Members and Friends,

I hope you are all in good health, good spirits and as eager to be back in onsite corporate worship as I am.

We had our staff meeting on Monday morning and we reached consensus to relaunch in-person corporate worship at VMUMC on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 10:50am.

Texas County infection rates have dropped significantly and recovery rates are excellent.

Presently we have less than 50 active COVID cases left in Texas County.

This what is being recommended:
• We will relaunch Onsite Corporate Worship at VMUMC starting Sunday, June 14, 2020
• Ministry Group Gatherings (e.g. BSA, Primetimers, or UMM Breakfast) to coordinate with Office and continue to practice Social Distancing
• No Outside Groups will meet at VMUMC for the month of June
• Church Facility is clean and sterile right now
• If anyone still feels anxious about in-person worship please stay at home and enjoy the Online Worship Option
• Only one Sunday English Worship Service at 10:50am for the month of June
• The Spanish Worship Service will be held in the Youth Area at 12:30pm to increase safety and reduce sterilization of building
• We will continue to practicing Social Distancing by leaving every other pew vacant and sitting in family groups
• “Please Leave Vacant” signs will be posted on every other pew
• No Passing of Offering Plates, we will make use of an Offering Chest at sanctuary entrance instead
• No Hymnals, Contact Cards, or Pew Literature-A/V Screens will be used to assist with worship
• Entrance doors will be left open before worship starts and after worship to minimize personal contact
• Greeters at the sanctuary entrance will welcome worshipers, without making physical contact
• All high volume surfaces will be cleaned and sterilized after each worship service
• Wearing masks is encouraged, but will not be enforced
• Members asked to wash hands often and to help clean high volume areas after using (e.g. Bathrooms)
• No congregational singing for the month of June-YouTube Music and solos will be used instead
• Bulletins will be placed on pews for individual collection; please discard them in trash cans after worship
• Hand Sanitizer Stations available all around the sanctuary
• Archives Room seating will be spread out over entire area
• All who are running a temperature or feel ill to please rather stay at home
• Staggered dismissal after worship by pews with guidance from Ushers/Greeters
• No Holy Communion for the month of June
• Individual Ziplock bags with Elements for Holy Communion Service in July
• Children to remain in their pews for Children’s Conversation
• No Nursery provided for the month of June
• No Children’s Church for the month of June
• No Sunday School for the month of June
• Record Worship Service and then post to YouTube by 1pm for Online viewing on Sunday afternoons
• Suggested YouTube Songs will have to be selected by worshiper on YouTube and will not be included in the worship recording
• Prayer Requests, Praise Reports, Worship Feedback and Concerns will need to be shared using email, texts, and telephone calls.

I look forward to seeing you and worshiping Christ with you on Sunday.

Gratefully and joyfully yours in Christ,
Pastor Dave
